I Told You So! is a nicely illustrated digital children's book. It doesn't have narration or any other 'enhancements' but scores well with a short but well-crafted story. Siblings Stan & Sasha are stuck inside on a rainy day. Stan, the little brother, tries unsuccessfully to build things (a castle with blocks, a tent with blankets and a kite with fabric & wood). With each new idea, big sister Sasha taunts him, saying 'you can't do that' and 'I told you so' after each failure.
In the end, though, Stan successfully bakes a cake with the words 'I told you so' written on it - making Sasha 'eat her words' literally. This is a cute story about sibling relationships with very simple, easy to read text that young readers can enjoy on their own. The recordable narration feature is also wonderful and easy to use. The story is very short and simple, but solidly made and well developed. There is nice background music included, although it can be easy to miss since all the options are in the main settings menu of the device (and not accessible within the app).
The only thing that gave me pause about this story was the fact that easier activities for a young child (like building with blocks) were shown as too sophisticated a skill for Stan to master, yet he manages to bake a cake using the oven all by himself successfully - a little hard to believe. My child and I really enjoy this story at bedtime though, and I especially like that this title is full of simple sight words. It's a great book to have a child read aloud to record their own narration, giving them the unique opportunity to be the storyteller and the listener at the same time.

Stan & Sasha have to play inside one day because it is raining. Being bored, Stan says he's going to build a castle. "You can't build a castle," says big sister Sasha. When his building collapses she retorts, "I told you so." Then he tries unsuccessfully to make a tent and then a kite. Finally he decides to bake a cake, saying "I'm going to make you eat your words!". The cake has 'I told you so!' written on it. Sasha enjoys a slice, realizing that this time, Stan was right!
